French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) Foundation received a $15,000 grant from Bank of America in support of the hospital’s women’s health programs. The grant will fund cancer early detection initiatives at the Hearst Cancer Resource Center and the new Women’s Imaging Center at FHMC.
The Hearst Cancer Resource Center (HCRC) provides supportive and educational services necessary for cancer patients to understand their disease, tolerate treatment, and maintain dignity and quality of life throughout all aspects of their cancer experience. In the nine months since opening, the HCRC has served over 3,200 cancer patients and family members, as well as many community organizations, free of charge. Without public support, the HCRC could not provide such comprehensive programs and services to the community.
The Women’s Imaging Center focuses on patient comfort, support, education and outreach. Women benefit from the unmatched speed and accuracy of digital mammography, breast MRI, stereotactic biopsy, and breast ultrasound. This technology is accompanied by a tranquil setting to reduce stress and discomfort. The Women’s Imaging Center’s mission is to serve the health needs of all women, even those unable to afford a mammography screening.
