The French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC) Foundation is proud to announce that it will hold its third annual “Share the Hope” event at the Hearst Ranch on Saturday April 17, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Hearst Cancer Resource Center (HCRC).
The event, hosted by Steve Hearst, will feature a reception by the Neptune Pool of Hearst Castle, a gourmet dinner at the Hearst Ranch Dairy Barn catered by Maegen Loring, live music and a live auction. Over the past two years, the event has raised $260,000 before expenses to benefit the HCRC.
This year’s April 17th occasion will celebrate the second anniversary of the HCRC’s grand opening at FHMC. The HCRC collaborates with community and physician partners to provide supportive and educational services necessary for cancer patients to understand their disease, tolerate treatment, and maintain dignity and quality of life throughout all aspects of their cancer experience. In the two years that the HCRC has been open, it has served over 10,000 cancer patients and family members, as well as many community organizations, free of charge.
The resource center, staffed by oncology professionals, houses the latest information on cancer treatment options, nutrition, pain management and stress reduction. The HCRC has hosted everything from laughing classes, to nutrition lectures, to yoga for support groups and partnering organizations. It offers the Jennifer Diamond Cancer Resource Library to provide the most current, trustworthy information on cancer. It also features an Appearance Center complete with wigs, hats, scarves and makeup, to help build confidence and self-esteem in its clients who bravely battle the disease.
