This comprehensive project will transform French Hospital, adding a new patient care tower and significantly enhancing the original hospital building.

Once complete, French Hospital will offer 108 single-patient rooms to provide care with dignity, privacy, and humankindness for generations to come. In times of critical future needs, such as a pandemic or other emergencies, French Hospital will have the ability to accommodate up to 160 patient beds, ensuring the ability to care for our community in all situations.

Project phases

We anticipated groundbreaking on the first phase of our hospital expansion project in late summer 2027, with subsequent phases to follow.

  • Phase 1 - Groundbreaking in late summer 2027: Parking structure
  • Phase 2 - following Phase 1 completion: Patient Care Tower
  • Phase 3 - following Phase 2 completion: Extensive renovations to our existing hospital

Three-Story Patient Care Tower - 77,000 square-feet

First Floor

  • New hospital Main Entrance
  • Welcome Center, lobby, and waiting area
  • Expanded Admitting Department
  • Advanced Imaging Center featuring MRI, CT, X-ray, nuclear medicine, EKG, pulmonary function testing, and more
  • Meditation Room & Serenity Garden
  • Expanded bistro with indoor and outdoor dining
  • Expanded hospital kitchen and food services 

Second Floor - Intensive Care

  • 20-suite Intensive Care Unit
  • 6-suite Progressive Care Unit
  • Intensive Care Family Waiting Area
  • Connecting bridges to the original hospital 

Third Floor - Patient Care Rooms

  • 28 single-patient room Medical/Surgical and Telemetry Unit
  • Family Waiting Area
  • Rooftop Garden Terrace  

Parking Structure

A two-story parking structure will offer ample parking spaces and easy access to the new hospital main entrance  

Renovations to the existing hospital

  • Conversion of existing rooms to single-patient rooms 
  • 10 new, single-patient rooms in the former ICU location
  • Relocation and expansion of the pharmacy
  • Expansion of other supportive hospital departments
