The addition of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is vital to our commitment to better prepare our community for the unexpected and to better protect our most vulnerable patients. The addition of a NICU expands our commitment to deliver comprehensive care in the Stollmeyer Family Birthing Center through prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum, newborn care, and NICU services.

The French Hospital NICU will be the only one in San Luis Obispo County with private rooms for infants. Research shows that private rooms facilitate healing and bonding, keep families together, and enhance patient safety by offering this critical practice closer to home. Plus, OB/GYN physicians prefer maternity services that include a quality NICU.
