2011 Louis Tedone, MD Humanitarian Award Recipients

Frank and Betsey Kelton have quietly made an imprint on our community through their generosity and compassion for others. Through many volunteer and charitable efforts, their support has helped enhance the quality of life and health care for our community. Betsey has held various volunteer leadership roles with the American Heart Association, Hospice Partners of the Central Coast, LifeSpan, Project LifeSaver, and was board president for the Women’s Shelter Program of San Luis Obispo County. Frank has served as president of the Emergency Medical Services Agency and the California Ambulance Association, as well as supporting many non-profits such as Special Olympics and the Salvation Army.

As a true community leader, Frank created the San Luis Ambulance Explorer Program—a unique, volunteer program which provides hands-on experience and scholarships for young adults interested in pursuing a career in the field of medicine.

These cherished community members have been involved with countless charities for many years. It is their dedication to help others and their love for our community that makes them such very special people.
